FAQ

The questions people ask first

Costs, fit, telehealth, and what actually happens in a first session. If yours is not here, call and ask.

How do I book my first appointment?
Book online on the Book page in a few clicks. Prefer to talk first? Call (267) 410-6931 and Christen will find a time with you, starting with a 15-minute consultation if you would like.
Who does Centered work with?
Adults, children, teens, couples and families. Christen has worked with clients from age 3 to 78, so no one is too young or too far along to start.
What does a session cost?
Individual therapy is $200, couples counseling is $225, family therapy is $250, and an extended relationship session is $275. The 15-minute consultation is a separate short appointment.
What kind of therapy does Christen practice?
An eclectic, evidence-based approach. For families that usually means psychodynamic family therapy and narrative therapy. She is also trained in filial therapy, which brings parents directly into the work with their child.
I think I am dealing with narcissistic abuse. Can you help?
Yes. Christen specializes in working with both victims and perpetrators of narcissistic abuse, and with the family dynamics that tend to surround it.
My child may have ADHD or autism. Where do I start?
Start with a consultation. Centered provides comprehensive evaluations for childhood disorders including adjustment disorders, ADHD, conduct disorders and oppositional defiant disorder, and ongoing support for children and adolescents alongside their parents.
Do you see clients outside Maryland?
Christen is a licensed clinical social worker in Maryland and Pennsylvania, so clients in those states can be seen by telehealth. Call to confirm what is available where you live.
What happens in the first session?
You describe what brought you in, and the two of you name what you want to be different. By the end of it you will have a direction rather than a diagnosis handed to you.
